Was listening to Fergie's Big Girls don't cry..there is something about the lyrics that makes me want to post it here..maybe the part that talks of serenity when alone or about big girls not crying..maybe it is the entire song..maybe it is the reality that shows....

The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
To be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

[CHORUS:]
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry

The path that I'm walking
I must go alone
I must take the baby steps 'til I'm full grown, full grown
Fairytales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

[CHORUS]

Like the little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and uno cards
I'll be your best friend and you'll be mine Valentine
Yes you can hold my hand if you want to
'Cause I want to hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds
But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

[CHORUS]

Memoirs of a Geisha-part II

Chiyo and Satsu , as destiny would have it , are separated thanks to Bekku et al , who ensure that the sisters no longer can meet one another without risking their life.
As luck wouldhave it , Chiyo turnsout to be more "fortunate" and lands at an okiya , the Nitta Okiya .. Apart from the usual helpers and girls training to become Geisha , there is the abominable granny , appears-to-be-better Mother and ofcourse , the fairly considerate aunt who offers to beat Chiyo rather than let her suffer at the hands of Granny and goes on to actually beat her!
What Chiyo endures is brought out beautifully in really simple English with no fancy-sounding words.. and ofcourse , just when Chiyo seems to have made it to the school for to-be-Geishas , there is the pain of having to put up with the beautiful and yet devilish Hatsumomo whose only purpose in life seems to be destruction of Chiyo..
Chiyo's only friend seems to be Pumpkin.. But how long will this friendship last?
And there is the Chairman , who arouses feeling Chiyo has never known..a ray of hope that carries Chiyo through everything..And things start changing, when a popular Geisha ,Mameha decides to let Chiyo do her apprenticeship under her guidance ..and thus is born Sayuri!!
But what prompted Mameha take a decision as this one? What will Hatsumomo's course of action be , now that Sayuri can be threat with Mameha all determined to make Sayuri famous, further fuelled by the fact that Mameha has her personal reputation at stake and her challenge with the Mother..

The rest of the story is all about Sayuri's struggles to make it big and realize her dreams which have been a part of her ever since she met the Chairman.. the fights for her misuage..Things become complicated with Nobu taking an interest in her and the war happening when the General , supposedly her dana, backs out from providing her any support of any kind..
Nobu before leaving Sayuri in the safe hands of Arashino,a kimono-maker , gives her a "block of stone" , which when he asks her back can mean only one thing..that he would become her dana ..
And then , it happens..Nobu asks her for it , after the war..
Does Nobu become Sayuri's dana? Does she suppress her desires and fantasies? Does she let go of the Chirman as just a part of her past? Or does she fight back? Will she disgrace herself just to make her dreams come true?

A beautiful story. More beautifully told.Very simple but it surely is worth a read.Liked everything from the tipsy-house as Chiyo puts it when she describes her house on the cliff to the description of the kimono.
It has a class of its own.
And a lot informative too.
Like a very dear friend of mine said " I read it during clinics.. it is worth it!"

Memoirs of a Geisha-Arthur Golden -part I

Getting to business right away , let me begin to tell you about the book I read recently.. e-book to be precise..
Though nothing beats the fun in having to read a book(the one with pages you can touch n feel!)..where flipping every page brings you closer to unravelling the mystery that lies behind it all ..the fun in reading the book, sitting cross-legged , sipping cold lemonade accompanied by softmusic that seems to fall in cadence.. heaven!
But still , there was something about this book that made me undergo the strain-to-my-eyes and read it as an e-book ..

I had heard about this from quite a few of them and like many a time , I wanted to read it at any cost..So I just ran a search on e-snips and well , I had it there!

Just downloaded it and started reading making up my mind to buy the book if it is worth it..not only was the reading worth it , but it made me sit in front of the comp ,not being able to wait till I get a hard copy of it..

Well , the book is all about the life of Chiyo-chan, a naive li'l girl from the little fishing village of Yoroido in the land of the rising sun, whose life changes drastically the day she meets Tanako Ichiro. She goes on to become what she had never dreamt of and probably was not aware of..
Chiyo-chan is just another little girl who does things that any girl of her age would do. Sakamoto, her father is a fisherman and they ek out a living selling fish..
Chiyo-can has a sister Satso, who seems to have a predilection for accidents and seems to somehow do things in a way that look as though it was all a complete accident.
Chiyo-chan's mother is not a very healthy woman and Chiyo-chan and Satso are left to look after the household affairs when they their mother cannot do so any longer ..

What can happen that throws Chiyo-chan onto a totally different path?
Chiyo's meet with Mr.Tanako Ichiro ,the owner of Japan Coastal Seafood company ,sees her on her way to Kyoto and what is more?she has her Satsu accompanying her..And they leave behind their father and a dead mother ..
Chiyo n Satsu under the impression that they will be adopted by Tanako set out on a journey that would not only change their lives but also pull them apart..
What is it that pulls the 2 sisters apart? Where were they heading to?What was in store for them?
You'll only have to read the next part to know it all..

Here again!

Yes!
Last night I had this urge to start a blog to just pour in my views on the books I have read or am reading..
Why , you ask?
Just another thought whose origin and need really cant be explained..Just felt like it and considering that it is reason ehough , here I am!

This is solely meant for the purpose of book reviews and criticism for the same is most welcome....
Heave ho!!
